Press Release – for immediate release by the Travis County Green Party:

Recent Austin City Council actions to commission a private sector ‘planning’ corporation to up-date the now somewhat dated Austin Tomorrow Plan of the early 1980’s continue to raise the ire of various community and social activists who question not only the cost but the value received!

The Travis County Green Party highly commends the announcement by the Travis County District Attorney's Office that it will review the incident in which a deputy constable used a taser on a 72 year old woman during a May traffic stop. Friday's Austin American-Statesman newspaper quotes Travis County District Attorney Lehmberg as stating, "We will review it [the report]..., for possible presentation to the grand jury".

On December 17, 2008 the Travis County Green Party (TCGP), working in conjunction with Austinites Lobbying for Municipal Accountability and Gray Panthers of Austin, presented to the office of the Travis County District Attorney Ms. Rosemary Lehmberg, a letter expressing our concerns regarding possible criminal misconduct on the part of City of Austin public officials in connection with missing federal housing funds.

The Travis County Green Party released the following Public Statement, regarding the task that Bill Holloway, our late co-chair, was working on at the time of his death. In fact, 3 weeks before his death, he gave the documents cited in the Statement to the Travis County District Attorney. Here is the Statement:

The Green Party of Texas mourns the tragic loss of Bill Holloway. Bill was a dedicated leader who was currently serving as the Co-Chair of the Travis County Green Party in Austin, TX. He will be missed as a mentor and a friend.

Through his kind-hearted activism, Bill touched the lives of so many people. He was an active Green Party contributor at the local, state and national levels. Bill served on numerous committees in the Green Party and in other organizations as well.

The Travis County Green Party (TCGP) calls upon Israel to immediately end their brutal attack on Gaza. This carnage is simply intolerable. Israel must immediately withdraw all their forces from the border with Gaza and end their airstrikes.

Military invasion and occupation does not create peace. If it did, Israel would have, for the last 40 years, been the safest place on Earth. Iraq would have been so as well for the past almost six years.
